Merit Scholarship for Women

The scheme for award of National Scholarships on merit was introduced for higher studies in Arts, Science, Engineering, Medicine, Music, Agriculture, Law, Commerce, and Education inrecognized educational institutions in India. 

 

Eligibility

The awards under the scheme are made on the basis of results of following examinations: (I) School leaving examinations i.e. Matriculation/High School/Indian School Certificate; (ii) 12th class/PUC/Intermediate. Indian nationals who have secured 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination and passed in the same year of award of scholarship are eligible for award. Persons in full time employment or in receipt of any other scholarship/stipend or studying on part-time basis/privately are not eligible.

 

Scholarships

The scholarship is offered to those candidates whose parents income is not more than Rs.25,000 per annum who want to pursue undergraduate/diploma courses  Tenability  A scholarship under the scheme is tenable from the year it is made. The scholarship is tenable for next course of study and not for any equivalent course. In the case of engineering/medicine studies, the scholarship is tenable for the first degree. Award is not given/renewed for PhD/Research Studies.

 

Selection Procedure

Eligible scholars are selected strictly in order of meriti.e. the qualifying examination. The scholarship is renewable from year to year within the same stage of education and the renewal depends on promotion to the next class with 60% aggregate marks.

 

Amount of Scholarship:  Rs.300-Rs.500 pm (depending on the course of study)
